From your hotel or riad around 8:00.
This day trip to the Ouzoud waterfalls visits falls that drop about 110 metres in several stages into a red-rock gorge in the Middle Atlas, about two and a half hours north-east of Marrakech. They are among the highest in North Africa and run all year, framed by olive trees, mills and café terraces built along the cliffs.
With a local guide you take the path down to the foot of the falls, where small boats take visitors close to the spray, then climb back on the other side, past the Barbary macaques that live in the trees. Lunch at a terrace above the falls is optional. For a waterfall walk closer to Marrakech, see the Ourika Valley Day Trip.
