From your hotel or riad.
Horse riding in Marrakech starts at stables on the edge of the city. In the Palmeraie you ride along earth tracks between palm trees, orchards and small villages; in the Agafay desert the routes cross open, stony hills with the Atlas in the distance. A riding instructor matches you with a horse and goes with you throughout.
First-time riders stay at a walk, while experienced riders can trot and canter where the ground allows. Rides last up to two hours, with mint tea at the stables at the end. Helmets are provided. For a gentler pace on a different animal, see the Camel Ride.
