A hot air balloon ride in Marrakech starts before dawn. A driver collects you and takes you to the launch site outside the city, which changes from day to day with the wind. While the crew inflate the balloon you are served tea and coffee, then you lift off as the sun rises over the plains and Berber villages, with the High Atlas in view on a clear morning.
The flight lasts about an hour, at heights from treetop level to several hundred metres. After landing, breakfast is served in a Berber tent and the pilot hands out flight certificates before the drive back, around mid-morning. Flights run all year when the weather allows. For a sunset activity instead, see the Agafay Desert Dinner.
