Argan Oil Workshop

Overview

In this argan oil workshop in Marrakech you follow the whole process: cracking the nuts between two stones, roasting the kernels for culinary oil, grinding them in a hand mill and kneading the paste until the oil comes out. It takes about two hours, with mint tea, and you leave with a small bottle of the oil you made.

Argan trees grow only in south-west Morocco, and the oil is still made largely by women’s cooperatives. The workshop explains the difference between cosmetic and culinary argan oil, which helps if you plan to buy more in the souks on the Souk Shopping Tour.
