A traditional hammam in Marrakech follows the same steps it has for centuries. In the steam room you warm up until the skin softens, then black soap made from olives is spread over the body and left to work. An attendant scrubs you from head to foot with a kessa glove, rinses you with warm water and, on most programmes, applies rhassoul clay from the Atlas.
This session takes place in a spa in Marrakech, with separate areas or private rooms, and ends with tea in the relaxation room. A massage with argan oil can be added after the hammam. A car takes you there and back. After a day of quad biking or a long walk on the Medina & Souks Walking Tour, it is the classic way to recover.
